Great link Mr. H! All of the things the author talked about are so true in working with families. I also believe that, in general, people really are trying their best in that moment. It is not the job of the social worker to judge or punish. With that, people need to be treated with respect and they are the experts on themselves, as the author eluded to. It is important to engage client's in the case planning process in an effort to assit them in being successful.
